Stock#: 1011GD MSRP: $19.99  Your Price: $15.99 La Rioja Luís Alberto Lecea is not only the owner of a small family winery located in one of Rioja's most emblematic wine villages, but is also is the President of the Consejo Regulador de Rioja. There are more than 350 cave cellars in San Asensio, many of them in a state of of disrepair. "It is a shame," Luís said, "these small family cellars were the backbone of the Rioja wine business." Some of them were built in the 17th Century. Luís's cellar was dug by hand out of the hard earth with picks and shovels to a depth of ten meters, and once underground, opened into caves where epoxy-lined cement hold his wine. Lecea still makes great classic Rioja wines the old-fashioned way. In fact, he just recently purchase more wine caves adjoining his cellars. We have had white and rosado wines from these cellars that are still alive and vibrant with 20 years in bottle.
